Technique- Posture:
Correct posture is the foundation of all belly dance moves.  It provides a grounded and centralised core from which each move can originate and be performed safely.

When correct posture is exercised it will allow you to develop strength, control, fluidity and grace as well as an improved silhouette and body line.
The key points to remembering correct posture are:

1.      Feet parallel and placed hip width apart-beneath the hip bones

History Of Bellydance Part 1: Origins

Bellydance is thousands of years old with its origins in the Middle East and North Africa.  There are many different theories as to where and how Bellydance originated.  Some of these theories are based upon fantasy and speculation and others upon observation of cultural and anthropological traditions.  As the true origin has never been officially documented it has been left to historians, dance ethnologists and enthusiasts to delve deep into the possible origins of this beautiful ancient and evolving dance form.

Club Baklava II: Hossam & Serena Ramzy's Performance Showcase

Yesterday I received my copy of the electronic dance flyer that advertises Hossam & Serena Ramzy’s Club Baklava II Showcase.  As I scrolled down the page I was impressed by the listing of both local and international dance stars and rising talent, some of whom will have travelled from overseas to take part in this illustrious event.

Club Baklava is a showcase that allows teachers and performers to share their passion and skill for the dance with an enthusiastic audience.  It is also a great opportunity to network and meet like-minded dancers and best of all to be championed by the infamous duo of Hossam & Serena Ramzy, as the chance to perform is by invitation only!
